Crowkeeper
Mixed media, 11 in x 14 in, 2024
This drawing served as my Life Drawing I final and represents the feeling of quiet rest and growth within the wintertime. My favorite animal is a crow, and I wanted to represent the joy and comfort I feel when I see crows within the cold months. In this self-portrait, I am giving a corpse of a mouse to a murder of crows. In depicting this, I wanted to use the mouse as a vessel to represent one’s old self being given over to time to be consumed and repurposed.
